Mich Sampson: Bio

Mich has two facets to her musical life - first as a lively folk-acoustic songwriter and performer, and second as a engaging leader of choirs and choral workshops.

A regular on the UK filk [sic] scene, she has been guest of honour at conventions in Atlanta and the UK and shortlisted for the international 'Best Performer' Pegasus award five times. Her deft piano and warm vocals are reminiscent of Tori Amos and Joni Mitchell, but coloured by her love of fantasy and Jewish music as well as her work with other eclectic performers such as Marilisa Valtazanou (with whom she performs as Playing Rapunzel).

Mich released her debut studio album 'Just Beyond' in February 2006 in memory of her parents, and from which half of the profit has been donated to Cancer Research UK.

Mich is training as a conductor at Roehampton University. She currently directs the Roehampton University Chorus and has worked with groups such as the Sutton College Ladies Choir and the Chapel End Savoy Players. She also works with synagogues in supporting congregation singing.
